English and Spanish, on every line
Bilingual answering isn't an add-on or a tier — every voice.aai.dev line speaks natural, conversational English and Spanish. Not a translated script and not an accent-heavy text-to-speech voice, but a receptionist that can greet, answer questions, and run your full intake in either language.
How detection works on a call
There is no “press 2 for Spanish.” The call starts with your greeting; the moment the caller speaks, voice.aai.dev recognizes the language they're using and continues in it — and if a caller switches languages mid-call, it follows them. The entire conversation happens in the caller's language: the questions, the clarifications, the message-taking. Nobody is asked to perform in a language they're nervous in, which is exactly when details get lost.
Whatever language the call happened in, your post-call email arrives written for you, in your language, with the recording attached so you can hear the original.
More languages, by configuration
Setups can be configured for additional languages beyond English and Spanish — we announced this in a recent update (see all product updates). Which languages your line needs is part of the setup conversation: tell us who your callers are, and we configure for them.
Why this matters for your business
A caller who can't use your greeting usually doesn't leave a message — they call a competitor who answers in their language, and you never learn it happened. The full reasoning, and a simple way to test your own line for it, is in the bilingual answering guide. It matters most in trades like immigration and legal intake, where language comfort decides whether the call happens at all.
